Tracy Warnberg-Lem~n, Program Director for Youth First stated Chandra Kreyer has been a great <br />asse~ to Youth First and thanked the City Council for their support. She presented an update on <br />Youlh First. She reviewed information regarding Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the Homework <br />Club tbr Youth and other activities sponsored by Youth First. She stated Youth First would like <br />to work with local government, schools, local businesses, and others in fulfilling the Youth First <br />Community of Promise. These five promises are: ongoing relationships with. caring adults; safe <br />places with structured activities during non-school hours; healthy start and futUre; marketable <br />skills through effective education; and opportunities to give back through community service. <br />She indicated Jan Pomeroy has recently resigned from Youth First, and she is owed a debt of <br />gratitude Ibr helping to keep Youth First afloat. There will be an open house plarmed to honor <br />Ms. Pomcroy. <br /> <br />Mayor Garnet stated he has been involved in Youth First for several years, and there have been <br />some frustrating times and some great times. There are a lot of things Youth First does that are <br />not recognized, and these updates will be a good thing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig requested Ms. Warnberg-Lemm extend the Council's thanks to Ms. <br />Pomcroy. lle stated Ms. Pomeroy has been a tremendous asset to the organization. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Councihnctnbcr Elvig requested the follo~ving email received by the City be entered into the <br />rccol'd: <br /> <br />Dear City of Ramsey, <br /> <br />Wc have wanted to write to you for several years but have always put it off. We want to thank <br />you fin' the bike trail system, especially the Lake Itasca bike trail. We are avid recreational bikers <br />arid have enjoyed the beauty of this trail since you opened it. Last night we found the new <br />extension which will allow additional residents easy access to this trail. <br /> <br />A lk, w years ago Diane took a new job in Eden Prairie and we looked into moving closer to work. <br />We could not find a neighborhood that offered the amenities that we enjoy up here in Ramsey. <br />The bike trail, access to affordable golf, easy access to the freeway system by way of Highway <br />10, and the fact that our grown children and grandchildren live nearby, kept us here.! <br /> <br />We are excited to see the new Town Center project take shape which will give us additional <br />services close to home. <br /> <br />Wc just want to say thank you, keep up the good work! <br /> <br />APPR() VE AGENDA <br /> <br />(i'ity Administrator Norman noted the following additions to the agenda: <br /> , Case No. 12A: Alpine Park's Discovery Garden <br /> <br />City Council/April 26, 2005 <br /> Page 3 of 23 <br /> <br />-41- <br /> <br /> <br />
