CASE CONSIDER TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL AGREEMENT WITH MN/DOT FOR SIGNAL AT TH 47 AND XKIMO STREET By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer Background: All o[' thc Ci!y's seven traffic signals are maintained through a joint powers agreement with Mn/DOT and in some cases with Anoka County and the City of Anoka. The TH 47 project will include some modifications of the signals along TH 47, and Mn/DOT is rcq ucsting that the signal agreements for these affected signals be updated. Attached to this case is proposed Signal Agreement 877957R. This proposed agreement has been draticd to include all of the traffic signals which will be constructed or modified under this summer's construction project, however, only System "D" serving the intersection of rl'kl 47 and Xkimo Street directly involves the City of Ramsey. This signal will need to be modi fled as a result of the free r/ght-turn from eastbound CSAH 5 to southbound TH 47. Thc terms of this agreement will require the City to be responsible for about $1900 in costs associated with the cost of modifying the traffic signals at this location. The other cond itions which are outlined in this agreement are the same City responsibilities that cm-rcntly exist under the present signal agreement 79972M. Recommendation: Stall' rcco~nmends that the Committee recommend to the City Council that it enter into Signal Agreement 877957R with Mn/DOT, Anoka County, and the City of Anoka for the {)peration and maintenance of the traffic signal located at TH 47 and Xkimo Street.
