Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #20-196 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR THE METROPOLITAN <br />COUNCIL'S FISCAL YEAR 2022 — 2023 CLEAN WATER FUND REQUEST <br />WHEREAS, a sustainable supply of clean water is fundamental to the prosperity and <br />quality of life throughout the Twin Cities region, including the City of Ramsey; and, <br />WHEREAS, every sector of the Twin Cities region relies on water including commerce, <br />manufacturing, construction, health care, recreation, and agriculture; and, <br />WHEREAS, over the past ten (10) years, the Metropolitan Council has received funding <br />from the Clean Water Fund to support two programs that assist communities in the Twin Cities <br />region to achieve sustainable water supplies including the Metropolitan Area water supply <br />sustainability support program, and the water demand reduction grant program; and, <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution #18-217, adopted by the Ramsey City Council on <br />October 23, 2018, the City of Ramsey partnered with the cities of Corcoran, Dayton and Rogers to <br />prepare a Feasibility Study to explore alternatives and costs for a regional surface water supply <br />system in the northwest metropolitan area, which is being funded by the Metropolitan Council <br />through the Metropolitan Area water supply sustainability support program using Clean Water <br />Funds; and, <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution #20-018, adopted by the Ramsey City Council on <br />January 28, 2020, the City of Ramsey entered into a Clean Water Fund Grant Agreement with the <br />Metropolitan Council to accept a $28,000 grant to implement a water efficiency rebate program, <br />which is being funded by the Metropolitan Council through the water demand reduction grant <br />program using Clean Water Funds; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey desires to continue benefiting from these programs in <br />the future as the City strives to use water more efficiently. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) The City of Ramsey respectfully requests that the Clean Water Council fully support the <br />Metropolitan Council Fiscal Year 2022 - 2023 Clean Water Fund funding request. <br />
