continue rather than adjourn the hearing. This will allow for an opportunity for staff and the
PuNic Works Committee to meet with residents and discuss and consider their requests.

Citizen input

was none.

Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to continue the public
hearing on Improvement Project #05-24 until June 28, 2005, following a review by the Public
Works Committee.

Further discussion: Mayor Gamec inquired about trees located right on the property lines. City
f~;nginccr Jankowski replied most of the hedge rows are just inside the right-of-way or right on
the border. He believes this project can be done without eliminating those, but the concern on
the part of the homeowner was regarding salt and things from the road that would damage them.
Mayor Gamcc indicated it would be good to meet with the. homeowners. City Engineer
Jankowski explained some of the concerns he heard were regarding things like the width of the
road. There was specific direction from the Public Works Committee to make the road 32 feet
wide.. The other concern was regarding paving the cul-de-sac. He does not think the Public
Works Committee would agree not to pave the cul-de-sac. Councilmember Elvig suggested the
homer)WhetS attend the Public Works Committee meeting. City Engineer Jankowski replied he
will iai'otto thc homeowners of the meeting. Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained
there is a street standard of 32 feet, but in this case there are only three lots being assessed, with
m-> one to be assessed on the other side of the street. There could be consideration of reducing
l he str'eet width to 28 feet and an 8~foot trail, with no parking on one side of the street. This
couId ct~t costs a little. However, the paving of the cul-de-sac is an important element of the
pr~jcct.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Elvig, Jeffrey, Olson,
Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None.

'fhc pt, blic hearing was continued at 7:28 p.m.

Case #2: Lions Picnic/Application for a One-Day, 3.2 Malt Liquor License

Mayor Gamec announced the Ramsey Lions are applying for a one-day, 3.2% malt liquor license
fi~r thc (~ommunity Picnic that is scheduled for Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Central Park.
