Consider Authorizing Bids for Improvement Project 02-34,.Ramsey Municipal Parking Facility By: Brian E. Olson, Assistant Public Works Director / Principal City Engineer Background: Design lbr hnprovement Project #02-34, Ramsey Municipal Parking Facility is nearing completion with completion of the design documents scheduled for the first week in June, 2005. Plans are being prepared by LSA Design who will also assist us in the advertisement process as well as act as' project manager to ensure quality control throughout the project. This project includes the construction of a 180,000 s.f. facility that will provide 590 parking stalls in a four story parking ramp. The final site plan was approved on May 10, 2005. (A copy of the case is altacbed) The Feasibility Study for this project was presented to the City and a public hearing was held at the February 22, 2005, City Council meeting. (A copy of the project costs and funding sources is attached) The anticipated bidding schedule is as follows: Send advertisement for bids to the Anoka Union and Construction Bulletin Publish tbr 3 consecutive weeks starting Open B/ds Award Contract at City Council May 31, 2005 June 3, 2005 July 7, 2005 July 12, 2005 Engineers Probable Construction Cost Estimate: $7,400,000 As mentioned in the schedule, the bids will be brought back to the City Council for review prior to thc award of the contract. Reco m mendation: It is Staff's recommendation to authorizg Staff to proceed with the bidding process by advertising the project in the Anoka Union and Construction Bulletin.
