Case #2: <br /> <br />Consider Request by Anoka County Highway Department to Approve <br />Construction Plans for CR 116 Project <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated Anoka County is in the final stages of preparing plans for a <br />project anticipated to take place late this summer which includes the signalization of the <br />intersection of CR 116 and Dysprosium Street/Thurston Avenue and the creation of a four lane, <br />divided roadway section between this intersection and TH 47. A set of final plans have been <br />prepared and presented to the City for review and the County has requested that the City <br />authorize signature of these plans. Included in the Committee's packet are several plan sheets, <br />which illustrate the major design elements of the project. Several significant elements are: <br /> <br />· The project will not be done under traffic, but will be closed to through traffic to facilitate <br /> quicker and less costly construction. <br />· Barium Street (a private roadway into the mallard Ponds subdivision) will be closed. <br />· A median will be installed from TH 47 to Iodine Street, which will prevent left turns from <br /> streets and private drives throughout the section, except at Dysprosium Street. <br />· A trail section along the north side of CR 116 will be reconstructed and extended west to <br /> Germanium Street. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski advised staff recommends that the Committee recommend to City <br />Council that staff be authorized to sign the plans for the C SAH 116 Thurston Avenue/Dysprosium <br />Street project. <br /> <br />Acting Chairperson Cook asked if there will be additional study done regarding opening the gate <br />and closing the 142nd Avenue access. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler replied this topic will be coming up for discussion. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to recommend to City Council that <br />staff be authorized to sign the plans for the CSAH 116 Thurston Avenue/Dysprosium Street <br />project. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Acting Chairperson Cook, Mayor Gamec and Councilmember <br />Olson. Voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson Elvig. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Update on Acquisition of Easements Necessary for Mississippi Drainage <br />Subdistrict 101 <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski explained in 2000 a taxing district, known as Mississippi Subdrainage <br />District No 1, was established to provide storm sewer service to an area bounded by Highway 10 <br />on the south; the railroad tracks on the north; the eastern City limits on the east; and Sunfish Lake <br />Boulevard on the west. The initial portion of the storm sewer was installed for the portion of the <br />district east of The Outpost in 2001. The second phase of the installation, which will service the <br />west half of the district, is to be installed this summer.
