Case #3:

Introduce Ordinance Renaming 149th Avenue NW between Trunk Highway
#47 and Waco Street NW to Sunwood Drive NW

City Engineer Olson stated that on February 13, 2001, a public hearing was held on the proposed
renaming of the segment of 149th Avenue NW between T.H. #47 and Waco Street NW to
Sunwood Drive NW. There are not addresses that will be affected by the renaming of this
segment of the street, and there was no comment at the public hearing. This renaming will result
in a consistent street name from the east/west collector roadway on both sides of T.H. #47.

Motion to by Councilmember Anderson, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to introduce
an ordinance effecting the above street name change.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, Hendriksen, Kurak,
and Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

Case #4:

Introduce Ordinance Renaming Portion of 153ra Avenue NW and 155th
Avenue NW

City Engineer Olson presented the Council with a map which identified the segments of 153rd
Avenue NW which serve the City as an east/west collector street with the completion of a 0.8
mile segment between 155th Avenue NW and Variolite Street NW to 153rd Avenue NW to
Armstrong Boulevard NW. This collector street will transverse the entire City, beginning at
Roanoke Street NW near the Rum River and ending at Highway gl0 near the Elk River border.
Because this roadway has been constructed in segments and because it transverses north and
south for a distance of about 1,700 feet to avoid wetlands, it has various names. A proposed
street name change will require new addresses for 25 residential properties, Allina Medical
Clinic, Ramsey Pharmacy, and the Links of Northfork Golf Course. A public hearing was held
on February 13, 2001. Some public comment from that heating suggested that the proposed
name change not occur. Other comments suggested that the proposed name of "Alpine Drive" be
reconsidered. Additional comments suggested that adequate time be allowed for implementation
to allow for easier transition to the new name on the part of the businesses and residents affected
by the address change. Council directed staff to introduce an ordinance changing the street
name. Because a new name for the roadway is not certain, the ordinance is being introduced
with a blank for the new name. A definite name will need to be included before final adoption of
the ordinance anticipated on April 23, 2001.

Councilmember Anderson inquired if there was any additional feedback regarding the name of
the street.

City Attorney Goodrich advised the Council that they should determine the name of the street
prior to introduction of the ordinance.

City Council/April 10, 2001
