MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT <br /> <br />1) Trip to Loudi, China and Sister-City Relationship Task Force <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman explained this authorization is for the trip by Counci'lmembers to <br />Loudi, China in relation to the sister city relationship. Commitments for trip must be submitted <br />by May 15, 2005. The authorization before the Council is for a $2,000 nonrefundable expense <br />for each Councilmember that commits to the trip. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated the Councilmembers must make sure there is a firm commitment before <br />submitting for this trip. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to authorize $2,000 per <br />Councitmember for a cost trip to Loudi, China for the sister city relationship. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Elvig noted the City is still trying to develop an action plan <br />regarding the City's goals in these travels. This is a great opportunity, but an action plan is <br />needed. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Pearson, Cook, Elvig, Jeffrey, <br />Olson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Further discussion: City Administrator Norman indicated a discussion regarding a Sister City <br />Task Force will be on the agenda of the next meeting. Councilmember Strommen stated the <br />Finance Committee discussed the need for those traveling to have a purpose in mind. Mayor <br />Gamec suggested a slide show presentation of Ramsey be prepared to share with Loudi, China. <br /> <br />2) Special Council Meetings <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman indicated the legal opinion regarding the charter amendment petition <br />should be completed by next week. He inquired if the Council would be willing to meet in a <br />special session on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00'p.m. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to schedule a special Council <br />meeting in regards to the charter issue on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Cook, Elvig, Olson, <br />Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec directed staff to contact Eric zaetsch and the gentleman from <br />Trott Brook regarding the special meeting. City Administrator Norman indicated staff will <br />contact all the sponsors of the petition.
