contin[~c rather than a4journ the hearing. This will allow for an opportunity for staff and the
Public Works Committee to meet with residents and discuss and consider their requests.

Citizen Input

Was llonc.

by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to continue the public
hcarinl,,, on hnprovement Project #05-24 until June 28, 2005, following a review by the Public
Committee.

["t~rthe~' discussion: Mayor Gamec inquired about trees located right on the property lines. City
t!nginccr Jankowski replied most of the hedge rows are just inside the right-of-way or right on
the b~}rder, fie believes this project can be done without eliminating those, but the concern on
thc part of the homeowner was regarding salt and things from the road that would damage them.
Mayor (iamec indicated it would be good to meet with the homeowners. City Engineer
.lank~wski explained some of the concerns he heard were regarding things like the width of the
mad. 'l'here was specific direction from the Public Works Committee to make the road 32 feet
wide. ~1 he other concern was regarding paving the cul-de-sac. He does not think the Public
Works (:ommittee would agree not to pave the cul-de-sac. Councilmember Elvig suggested the
homeowners attend the Public Works Committee meeting. City Engineer Jankowski replied he
will inf(,'m the bomcowners of the meeting. Assistant Public Works Director Olson explained
there is :t street standard of 32 feet, but in this case there are only three lots being assessed, with
no one ~ be assessed on the other side of the street. There could be consideration of reducing
thc street width to 28 feet and an 8-foot trail, with no parking on one side of the street. This
could cut costs a little. However, the paving of the cul-de-sac is an important element of the
im~.}ccl.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Elvig, Jeffrey, Olson,
I'carsm-~, m~d Strommen.
