Policing Trails <br /> <br />Regular maintenance, like the brushing discussed earlier is also tmportant. A clearing in a forested <br />area of a longer trail, for instance may be planned for a turn-around or as dudng by-pass in the <br />construction process, but this same spot can easily fill with brush if not cleared periodically. <br /> <br />Communication betxveen the Police and Park Department ensures that patrol needs are reconciled <br />with maintenance practices to the extent practicable. Neighborhoods and trail users should ,also be <br />encouraged to take an active role in monitoring and relaying issues and ideas. The National Night <br />Out event may also be an opportunity for this exchange. <br /> <br /> <br />
