Sherburne National Wildlife <br />Refuge <br />Sherbume National Wildlife Refuge, <br />managed by the U.S. Fish and X,V'fldlife <br />Service, encompasses 30,600 acres of <br />land and provides excellent <br />opportunities for wildhfe oriented <br />recreation· The refuge has a gently <br />rolling landscape with a mLx of tall <br />grass prairie, oak savanna and wetland <br />habitats. <br />Bald eagles, sandhill cranes, ducks, <br />geese and songbirds all nest in the <br />Refuge and may be visible from the <br />7.3 mile Wildlife Drive (entrance on <br />County Road 5, txvo miles north of <br />Orrock). This county is <br /> <br />on the south side of the Nhssissippi <br />River. Currently, txvo existing bridge <br />trail connections occur south of <br />Ramsey and Hennepin County. One <br />bridge crossing is between Anoka <br />(Anoka County) and Champlin <br />(Hennepin County). The other bridge <br />crossing is located between Elk River <br />(Sherburne County) and Otsego <br />(Wright County).
