CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 12/08/2020 <br />Submitted For: Jeff Katers, Police By: Tim Frankfurth, Police <br />Information <br />5.29. <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #20-310 Extending Animal Impound Services Contract with North Metro Animal Care and <br />Control <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The city of Ramsey had contracted with the city of Anoka for animal containment services (the Anoka pound) since <br />2001. The city of Anoka informed us in 2019 they would be closing the animal impound facility so the property <br />could be redeveloped. There has been discussion about re -building the facility, but the final plans are undetermined <br />at this point. Numerous north metro cities currently contract with North Metro Animal Care and Control (NMACC) <br />of Andover for their services. <br />The Ramsey Police Department is responsible for animal control in the city of Ramsey and requests approval of the <br />contract so this service can continue. The city of Ramsey initially entered into this contract with NMACC in <br />September 2019. The contract for renewal is attached to this case explaining the cost of NMACC's services. As of <br />September 30, 2020, the city of Ramsey has paid $240 to NMACC for their contracted services. This total is a <br />significant reduction in the expenses we had paid to the city of Anoka for their services. <br />The amounts paid by the city of Ramsey to the city of Anoka for animal containment services for the last five years. <br />2015 - $3810 <br />2016 - $8050 <br />2017 - $8955 <br />2018 - $4610 <br />2019 - $3850 <br />$75 paid to NMACC in the last quarter of 2019 <br />Funding Source: <br />The budgeted amount for animal containment services in the 2020 budget is $4000. This is the same amount <br />budgeted for the 2021 budget. As of September 30, 2020, we have spent $240 on NMACC's services. There will be <br />additional expenses for the final quarter of FY2020, but the city should see a significant cost savings in this area. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval of the attached contract for service from North Metro Animal Care and Control to allow <br />them to continue providing services for the city of Ramsey. <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #20-310 extending Animal Impoundment Contract with North Metro Animal Care and <br />Control. <br />Attachments <br />animal contract <br />Resolution #20-310 <br />
