City of Ramsey Local Water Supply Plan <br />a <br />• <br />• <br />JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF ANOKA AND THE CITY OF RAMSEY <br />FOR THE SUPPLY OF MUNICIPAL WATER SERVICE <br />TO PORTIONS OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY <br />THIS AGREEMENT is entered into between the City of Anoka, <br />Minnesota, a Charter City under the laws of the State of Minnesota <br />("Anoka"), and the City of Ramsey, Minnesota, a Charter City under <br />the laws of the State of Minnesota ("Ramsey"), on the /g o, day <br />of u- u 51- , 1996. <br />WHEREAS, both Anoka and Ramsey own and operate municipal water <br />systems for the purpose of providing municipal water service to <br />their citizens, and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka's and Ramsey's corporate boundaries are <br />adjacent and their respective water systems are in close proximity <br />at the West boundary of Anoka and the East boundary of Ramsey; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka has reserve municipal water system capacity <br />beyond that which is currently needed to supply its peak day <br />demand, and Ramsey has an expanding customer base which has <br />exhausted Ramsey's municipal water system capacity, and <br />WHEREAS, it would be in the best interests of both cities to <br />cooperate in providing municipal water service to portions of <br />Ramsey and providing Ramsey with a secondary emergency water <br />source, by utilizing Anoka's excess capacity, and <br />WHEREAS, such cooperation will provide revenue to Anoka and <br />postpone the need for Ramsey to spend substantial amounts to expand <br />its water system capacity. <br />86 April 7, 2017 <br />
