There is a Special Election that will occur on Tuesday, February 9, <br />2021 for residents that live in Ward 1. Ward 1 is located (generally) on the north east side of the <br />City. As background, Councilmember Nadine Heinrich, who represented the City in Ward 1, <br />resigned from the Council, effective July 14, 2020. As a result of the vacancy in the Ward 1 office, <br />and because more than 365 days remain in the term of the vacated office, pursuant to City Charter <br />requirement, the City Council directed that a special election be held in Ward 1. The term of this <br />office runs through January 2, 2023. Due to State Statutes dictating uniform election dates for <br />Special Elections, the first authorized date for a Special Election is Tuesday, February 9, 2021. <br />Candidates listed on the ballot are listed alphabetically, as follows: Jane Covart and Ryan <br />Heineman. <br />Absentee Voting Continues. Ramsey residents who reside in Ward 1 may vote in -person absentee <br />for the Special Election at the Ramsey Municipal Center or the Anoka County Government Center. <br />To find out which ward you reside in, visit aps_://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us. Absentee voting <br />hours are between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Absentee voting will also be <br />available on Saturday, February 6, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and on Monday, February 8, from <br />8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
