Meeting Date: 01/12/2021 Submitted For: Colleen Lasher, Administrative Services By: Kathy Schmitz, Administrative Services Information Title Approve Amending City Council Meeting Schedule for 2021 Purpose/Background: Purpose: To amend the meeting schedule for the City Council due to a special election in February and to cancel the last regular meeting in December. Background: As Council is aware, City meetings are not allowed on Election night until after the polls close. Rather than starting meetings at 8:01, past practice has been to reschedule the meeting nights that would be affected. The Special Election is February 9, 2021 for Ward 1. The second meeting in December is December 28, 2021. If approved, the February 9, 2021 City Council meeting will be rescheduled to Monday, February 8, 2021. The December 28, 2021 meeting will be canceled altogether as has been done in the past. All other meetings would be scheduled in accordance with the normal calendar on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Notification: If approved, all notifications will be updated to reflect the amended meeting dates. Observations/Alternatives: N/A Funding Source: N/A Recommendation: Staff is recommending rescheduling the February 9, 2021 meeting to take place on Monday, February 8, 2021 and to cancel the December 28, 2021 meeting altogether, as has been done in the past. Action: Motion to reschedule the February 9, 2021 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting to Monday, February 8, 2021 and to cancel the December 28, 2021 City Council Work Session and Regular Meeting, with all other meetings to be scheduled in accordance with the normal calendar on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
