FC CASE AUTItORIZE DESIGN AND PREPARATION OF CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOil PARK SHELTER/CONCESSION STAND AT CENTRAL PARK By: Dean Kapler, Public Works Director Background: To date, lhe Ramscy Lions have donated $155,000 to the City of Ramsey to be used for the construction of a replacement building in the location of the existing "Park Shelter/Concession Stand" located at Central Park. The Lions have committed to cover all costs of the project other than the Engineering clement which will be donated to the city by the Hakanson-Anderson & Associates, Inc. The plans will be awfilablc at thc council meeting for review. Once the construction documents have been completed, staff will proceed with a bidding process for the project. Council will need to approve future actions with regard to authorizing bidding as well as a contract for the successful bidder. The Ramscy Lions have committed to cover the costs of the project, less the Engineering cost. Due to the gambling rcveuuc gcuemting process used by the Lions, the City has been requested to "bridge" the fimding gap between thc already donated $155,000 and the complete cost which is estimated at $225,000 until lhc time that the Lions can pay the balance of the cost. It should be noted that the Lions corem Jim tnt to fired the entire project is based upon their generation of future revenues from charitable gambling, therefore the fimding of the entire project is not guaranteed. It should be noted that the Lions havc verbally committed to fund the entire project. Fnnding: Staff is rccommcnding using the Lawful Gambling Fund to cover the funding gap until such time that the ! ,ions can pay thc balance of the project cost. This amount is estimated at $70,000.
