Meeting Date: 01/26/2021 By: Mark Riverblood, Engineering/Public Works Information Title: Award Sign Addition for Loral I Armstrong Delaney Ramsey Central Park Purpose/Background: On June 9th, 2020 City Council renamed Central Park with an addition to formally become, Loral I Armstrong Delaney Ramsey Central Park. That case was the culmination of much discussion by the Park and Recreation Commission and City Council, and is accessible for review on the City's website on the above date, as Council case 7.2. The purpose of this case is to acknowledge and approve the addition to the existing monument at the park to reflect the park's revised name. Notification: The topic of renaming for Central Park was discussed by City Council at a work session in 2019, and also by the Park & Recreation Commission in 2020, and was formally renamed by Council in June of 2020. Observations/Alternatives: Following through with the parks revised name, Staff issued the attached RFQ and sent it to four sign manufacturing companies, and received one quote from Signation Sign Group Inc. in the amount of $9,025 for the manufacturing and installation of the large steel sign panel. This would be installed in the coming months. Staff is also working to identify an appropriate Re -Dedication event for the park to 'unveil' the sign, likely to be held in April of 2021. Funding Source: Primary costs for revising the existing monument is to be the Park Trust Fund. Recommendation: Staff recommends approving the Quote from Signation Sign Group Inc. and ordering the monument addition for Ramsey's 37 year -old flagship park. Action: Motion to approve Signation Sign Group Inc.'s quote in the amount of $9,025 to revise the name of the park to read, Loral I Armstrong Delaney Central Park.
