<br />STRUCTURES) AND 9.20.11 (R-1
<br />RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT) OF THE CITY
<br />CODE

<br /> SECTION 1, SUMM~A_lt~Y
<br /> The following official summary of
<br />Ordinance #05-12 bas been approved by
<br />the City Council of tile City of Ramsey as
<br />clearly informing the public of the intent
<br />and effect of the Ordinance.
<br /> It is tile intent and effect of Ordinance
<br />/~0S~12 lo amend Ramsey City Code
<br />Chapter 9 (Zoning and Subdivision
<br />of Land) Section 9.11.02 (Accessory
<br />Structures) to:
<br /> ~ Utilize two,(2) acres as the tllresh-
<br />old for the maximum allowable height
<br />of accessory buildings to increase from
<br />~ixteen (16) feet to twenty-two (22)
<br /> · Allow additional square footage
<br />for accessory buildings for properties
<br />between 10-19.99 acres, 20-39.99 acres,
<br />and 40 plus acres.
<br /> · Limit tile number of accessory
<br />buildings allowed based on the size of
<br />a property.
<br /> · Restrict the height of accessory
<br />building sidewalls to ten (10) feet on
<br />properties less than two (2) acres in size.
<br /> ~, Require a zoning permit for acces-
<br />sory buildincjs that are 120 square feet or
<br />less, agricultural buildings as defined in
<br />IvlN Statute 16B.60 Subd. $, swimming
<br />pools and spas not exceeding 5,000 9al-
<br />Ions, fences that are six (6) feet or less in
<br />height, and for driveways that are not
<br />associated with work requiring a build-
<br />ing permit.
<br /> · Permit two-story accessory build-
<br />ings on properties two (2) acres or great-
<br />er in size by conditional use permit.
<br /> o Establish regulations for swimming
<br />pools and spas including setbacks, fenc-
<br />ing, noise, lighting, walkway decks, deck
<br />drains, and drainage
<br /> · Clarify that only accessory buildings
<br />thai ate greater than 120 square feet
<br />are used to calculate existing accessory
<br />building sguare footage and toward the
<br />maximum number of accessory buildings
<br />permitled on a lot
<br /> o Prohibit detached accessory build-
<br />ings fi'om containing complete inde~
<br />pendent living facilities (accessory aparb
<br />merits), which would include permanent
<br />provisions for living, sleeping, eating,
<br />cooking and sanitation.
<br /> · Include maintenance-free vinyl as
<br />an acceptable fencing material.
<br /> · Include language that clarifies that
<br />the front yard setback for accessory struc-
<br />tures in the Rural Reserve and RuraJ
<br />Preserve Districts is 40 feet or same as
<br />principal structure, whichever is greater.
<br /> SECTION 2 _EFFECTIVE DATE
<br /> Tile effective (late of this ordinance is
<br />thirty (30) days after its passage and pub-
<br />lication, subject to City Charter Section
<br />5.07.
