N
March 4.2021
Senator John Hoffman
2235 Minnesota Senate Bldg.
St. Paul, MN 55155
rth Metro
Mayors
RE: Support for Highway 10 Area Improvements in Ramsey — SF860 (Hoffman)
Dear Senator Hoffman:
The North Metro Mayor's Association (NMMA) is aware that the movement of people, goods,
and services in the north metro region are drastically impacted by intersections at Ramsey and
Sun Fish Lake Boulevards on Highway 10/169 in the City of Ramsey. NMMA supports SF860 as
a critically regionally significant need in the north metro.
The congestion negatively impacts businesses and residents in the cities of Anoka, Andover,
Ramsey, Coon Rapids, the surrounding area, and ultimately the overall region and state
economies.
The cities of Anoka, Andover, Ramsey and Coon Rapids are at the forefront of developing
Highway 10/169 improvements, including elements from the Anoka Solution at Thurston Avenue,
Fairoak Avenue, and Main Street. NMMA supports all efforts by these cities and project partners,
including the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Council, and Anoka
County, to secure project funding, such as bonding funds from the Minnesota Legislature.
Safety and reliability of our highway system will improve with these proposals. This will allow
more efficient movement of people, goods, and services.
These results also will be enjoyed by workers and businesses traveling through the area to other
parts of the metropolitan area and beyond. Furthermore, Greater Minnesota tourism and cabin life
will be easier and safer to access.
Representing more than 450,000 Minnesota residents, NMMA is a collaboration of 15 north
metro cities plus community partners working together to encourage private and public
investments in the northern suburbs. NMMA member cities include Andover, Anoka, Brooklyn
Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Circle Pines, Coon Rapids, Dayton, Fridley, Maple Grove,
Mounds View, New Brighton, New Hope, Ramsey, and Spring Lake Park.
On behalf of NMMA, we appreciate your consideration of this important project that impacts the
North Metro region and beyond.
Sincerely,
Mayor Jerry Koch
City of Coon Rapids
NMMA President
Mayor Ryan Karasek
City of Champlin
NMMA Vice -President
Mayor Kathi Hemken
City of New Hope
Former President
North Metro Mayors Association • 1000 Westgate Drive, Suite 252 • Saint Paul, MN 55114
651.203.7240 Phone • 651.290.2266 Fax • www.NorthMetroMayors.org
