Operations Committee — ACD 75th Anniversary
The Board reviewed the Operations Committee meeting minutes. LeMay explained the various
ideas discussed to celebrate ACD's 75th anniversary. One of the items in particular is staff
planting 75 trees somewhere in Anoka County. LeMay pointed out location for the planting
discussed was not at the Cedar Creek Ecosystem, but instead at Cedar Creek Conservation
Area. Berkness stated she would correct the minutes. Lord stated he would be more inclined to
plant the trees where there is more traffic, suggesting the Rum Central or Anoka Nature
Preserve as there are more trails. Lindahl stated that the state is moving to make the Cedar
Creek Conservation area more user friendly for school groups to visit and general bird watching.
Truchon questioned if planting on one of ACDs properties such as the Beach property would be
preferred. Lord advised we need to order trees now to secure very limited available bare root
stock. Berkness will work with Restoration Ecologist Carrie Taylor suggesting Wolcyn Tree
1 of 4
