Manganese in Municipal Wells. The City closely monitors its municipal water system for
manganese. Of 375 City water tests since 2019, the City has had a total of 14 tests that exceeded
advisory standards. According to Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), bottle fed infants
should not consume manganese in concentrations greater than 100 parts per billion (ppb). Three
of the City's monthly samples taken in May 2021 tested above MDH's recommended guidelines
at 126, 201 and 234 ppb. To correct these levels, the City is in the planning phase of constructing
a water treatment plant. In the interim, residents are encouraged to use bottled or filtered water to
mix infant formula. Home water treatment units also remove or reduce certain water contaminants
(refrigerator water filter, pour -through pitchers, units that attach to faucet, water softeners, etc.).
Learn more at: www.ci.ramsev.mn.us/745/Manganese-Levels.
City Offers Water Efficiency Rebates! You could qualify for $200 by replacing an existing
irrigation controller or toilet with a WaterSense labeled device. The City is offering water
efficiency rebates for qualifying City water customers. By replacing an existing controller or toilet
with a WaterSense labeled device, you could receive a rebate for the cost of the device or $200 -
whichever is less. To qualify, you must be a City of Ramsey water customer, must be replacing an
existing device and the new device must be U.S. EPA WaterSense labeled. Learn more at:
www.citvoframsev.com/750/Rebates.
Community Partners needed for Adopt -a -Flag Program. The City of Ramsey is gathering
sponsorships as part of its Adopt -a -Flag program. The Adopt -a -Flag Program calls for community
partners — both in the business and residential community — to sponsor a flag that will be affixed
to a light pole along Sunwood Drive. A Friends -of -the -Flag Level Sponsorship is $50 and a Patriot
Level Sponsorship is $500. This covers the cost of supplies as well as an engraved plaque which
will be on display at Ramsey City Hall. Patriot Sponsors will also have an engraved nameplate
affixed to the light pole. Adopting a flag can also serve as a symbol to honor the memory of a
loved one. If you are interested in sponsoring a flag, please contact Kathy Schmitz at 763-433-
9844 or kschmitz@citvoframsev.com.
Anoka County License Center. The City of Ramsey has a contract with Anoka County to rent
space at City Hall for licensing services. The Anoka County License Center in Ramsey is closed
until further notice due to staffing shortages related to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, City
Hall remains staffed and open for City business.
Save the Date:
• 2021 EDA Business Appreciation Day/Golf Tournament: The 2021 Business
Appreciation Day/Golf Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at The
Links at Northfork Golf Course.
