CASE # <br /> <br />APPROVE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION <br />REGARDING PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF TH 47 PROJECT SCHEDULE <br />By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />&! <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Construction for this project is scheduled to begin within the next few weeks. Recall that <br />thc clcments of the project within Ramsey are as follows: <br /> <br />· Construction of a ¼ths access median at TH 47 and 142nd Avenue (The current <br /> plans are not sufficiently detailed to show whether the existing cross walk is being <br /> removed, as requested by the Ccouncil) <br />· Construction ofa fi'ee right turn lane for eastbound CSAH 5 to southbound TH 47 <br />· Construction ora north bypass lane at 157th Avenue <br />· Thc removal of the "hump" south of 160th Avenue <br /> <br />At thc present time the following information is known relative to this project: <br /> <br />· Project will start on August 1 with construction south of CR 116 <br />· Project south of CR 116 will be completed on or before August 18 <br />· A preconstruction conference will be held on July 26 after which a more detailed <br /> schedule for the remaining areas of the project may be available <br />· The entire project is to be completed by September 3 <br />· The road closures for the hump removal south of 167th Avenue and the tunnel <br /> underpass near 160th Lane, cannot happen at the same time, since there would be <br /> no access to the residents dependant on the 164th Lane access to TH 47. <br /> <br />Thc public affairs office of MnDOT will be issuing press releases regarding the schedule <br />and activities associated with this project, however, because of the brief duration of the <br />prqicct, their news releases will be directed to the area news media. The Public Works <br />Committee has recommended that a plan be developed to communicate information <br />regarding this project more directly to the impacted businesses and residents. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />1! was the recommendation of the Public Works Committee that: <br /> <br />· A letter be mailed to all businesses along TH 47 and the residents dependant on <br /> 164th Lane for access describing the schedule and general impacts of the project. <br />· Businesses be direct mailed all MnDOT news releases regarding the project. <br />· An electronic message board be placed at the intersection of 164th Lane advising <br /> the residents dependant upon this access of the most current information relating to <br /> <br /> <br />
