Absent: Councilmember Strommen. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated it is the responsibility of the Council to mitigate some of this traffic, <br />which would be accomplished by Quicksilver Circle being extended to CR 5. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson concurred. <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook stated if another access is added to CR 5 they will be creating an <br />additional problem instead of solving a problem. He questioned if the Quicksilver'access would <br />be removed at some time when Potassium Street is extended. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated the determination with the preliminary plat approval of Shade Tree was to <br />leave ()Id CR 5 as it is. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey expressed concern with bringing more cars down Potassium Street onto <br />the intersection of Alpine Drive. He spoke in favor of the Quicksilver access previously because <br />at deccnt access is needed somewhere away from Alpine Drive. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if the trees would be disturbed with the 24 foot width on Potassium Street. <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson replied there would be minor vegetation loss and <br />trimming of trees and branches. Staff felt there would be less impact with curbing on the west <br />side and a 28 foot width than with a 24 foot width and urban ditch section. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson stated sooner or later the City will need to deal with the Potassium <br />Street hook up. The Council needs to take a serious look at this before they allow development <br />to get too far. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig stated he believes Potassium Street will need to be shifted towards Alpine <br />Orive at some time in the future, but the Quicksilver access is the best option at this time. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich advised a resolution has been distributed to the Council that is similar to <br />Councilmember Elvig's motion, as well as possible motions for the Shade Tree plat. <br /> <br />Councihnember Cook indicated he may be able to agree 'to the motion proPosed by <br />Councihnember Elvig if the Quicksilver connection were to be temporary until the City had the <br />ability to improve the access off of Potassium Street where it connects to Old Nowthen <br />13oulcwtrd.
