Councilmember Haas Steffen inquired about the added personnel that was suggested in <br />the 147eek/y Update. <br /> <br />Chief Gustafson commented that it would cost the City about $40,000 if a patrol officer <br />were brought on for a portion of the year. <br /> <br />It was noted that there is money in the contingency fund to help with the funding. <br /> <br />Ms. Lund pointed out that, although there is $50,000 in the Council Contingency Fund, <br />that will have to be used for funding the computer upgrades. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen noted that Council is also being asked to consider the CIP <br />this evening. She realized there are some large expenditures for the park funds. <br /> <br />Ms. Lund explained that the park funds are outside the general levy and general budget. <br />She proceeded to explain the different funds. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to <br />recommend Council adopt the resolution Adopting the 1998, payable 1999 municipal tax <br />levy. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Beyer, Zimmerman, Beahen and Haas <br />Steffen. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to <br />recommend Council adopt the resolution adopting the 1999 City of Ramsey General <br />Fund Operating Budget. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Beyer, Zimmerman, Beahen and Haas <br />Steffen. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Case#2: Report on Staff Contact with Landowners for City Property <br /> Acquisition <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler stated that in May, Council authorized staff to contact <br />property owners of three sites to ascertain their interest in selling land for City use. The <br />first one is for the "Community Park #5" site. The purpose and result of this parcel is <br />dealt with in detail in Case #3. The second part of this case is that staff is looking for <br />approval to prepare a purchase agreement on the amount and terms of a sale to the City <br />for the 35 acres east of Central Park. <br /> <br />Mr. Norman stated that he has had some conversation with Gerald Bauer and he (Bauer) <br />would be open to a corridor park system as well.
