CC Work Session 2, 3, Meeting Date: 09/28/2021 Information Title: Discussion Regarding Union Contract Negotiations for AFSCME and LELS-Patrol (Portions Closed to the Public) Purpose/Background: The purpose of this discussion is to provide the City Council with an update on the status of negotiations and to receive feedback from the City Council in order to continue negotiations with each group. Per Minnesota Statutes 13D.03, which states: "The governing body of a public employer may by a majority vote in a public meeting decide to hold a closed meeting to consider strategy for labor negotiations, including negotiation strategies or developments or discussion and review of labor negotiation proposals, conducted pursuant to sections 179A.01 to 179A.25" staff is requesting that the City Council go into closed session to discuss the City's labor negotiations strategy for its four union contracts. All four contracts are set to expire on December 31, 2021. At the time of the work session, City staff will provide the City Council with detailed information regarding the status of both the AFSCME union and the Patrol union. Timeframe: Up to 15 minutes. Funding Source: Not applicable at this time.
