We recognize that it was largely a result of your involvement, and that of your
staff, that we were able to secure the $40m INFRA grant to the Ramsey Gateway project. That
grant solidified the project as a nationally recognized need on the US Trunk Highway System
and opened the door to a variety of other state and regional funding opportunities. We are
extremely pleased to report to you that collectively, the resources now committed to the
Ramsey Gateway project have resulted in the project being fully funded. This is a remarkable
accomplishment and one that could not have happened without your support.
Having the Gateway fully funded and other critical improvements such as Thurston/Fairoak in
the City of Anoka scheduled to get underway soon, there remains only one final priority of the
Anoka County Highway 10 Coalition that still needs to be addressed. That improvement is the
proposed third lane addition in the City of Coon Rapids. We know you're familiar with this
project and why it is so important to efficient movement of traffic through the corridor. Failure
to expand US TH 10 to three lanes in each direction in Coon Rapids will create a bottleneck that
will choke off much of the benefit of the other improvements that are now scheduled. The City
of Ramsey, as a partner in the Highway 10 Coalition, wants you to know that we are in full
support of the efforts that are underway to secure the funding necessary to construct the third
lane. Please add our voices to those of the other Coalition members in encouraging the
identification and solicitation of whatever funding opportunitiesmay arise to address this
important priority.
It is our mission to work together. to responsibly grow our community, y, and to provide quality, cost-effective and efficient government
services.
