Public Works Committee 5. 6. <br />Meeting Date: 01 / 19/2021 <br />By: Bruce Westby, Engineering/Public <br />Works <br />Title: <br />Consider Recommending City Council Approval of Resolution Adopting Minimum Requirements for Public <br />Utilities Installed in Public Right -of -Ways and Easements <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this case is to consider recommending City Council approval of a Resolution adopting minimum <br />requirements for public utilities installed in public right-of-ways and easements. <br />Background: <br />Attached is case #11602 as discussed by City Council on January 12, 2021. The attached resolution includes <br />minimum requirements for public utilities installed within public right-of-ways and easements to ensure City Staff <br />can adequately maintain public utilities in perpetuity using City -owned equipment and vehicles. <br />Timeframe: <br />Staff estimates 10 minutes will be required to present this case and respond to questions. <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />Observations: <br />Staff is developing minimum design standards for municipal utilities to be installed within public right-of-ways and <br />easements to ensure the City can adequately maintain the utilities in perpetuity using City -owned equipment and <br />vehicles. Attached is a draft resolution intended to be used to open discussions. A final resolution incorporating <br />comments received from the Public Works Committee will be presented to the City Council for approval at a future <br />meeting. <br />Alternatives: <br />Alternative #1 — Motion recommending City Council approval of a Resolution adopting minimum requirements for <br />public utilities installed in public right-of-ways and easements. <br />Alternative #2 — Motion of other. <br />Funding Source: <br />No costs are associated with this case. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends alternative #1. <br />Action: <br />Motion recommending City Council approval of a Resolution adopting minimum requirements for public utilities <br />installed in public right-of-ways and easements. <br />Attachments <br />
