COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />7.01: Review Ordinance Amending Digital Display Billboard Regulations <br /> <br />Chairperson Bauer noted that the group thoroughly discussed this at the worksession earlier in the <br />night. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Gengler, seconded by Commissioner Peters, to recommend the City <br />Council introduce the ordinance amending digital display billboard regulations with the changes <br />proposed by the Commission. <br /> <br />Further discussion <br />Commissioner VanScoy commented that he does not approve of allowing billboards in the City of <br />Ramsey. He stated that this would change the current restriction, as billboards are not currently <br />allowed. He did not want to see billboards, even along Highway 10. <br />Motion Carried. COMMISSION/ STAFF INPUT <br />Senior Planner McGuire Brigl stated that Joann Shaw, a long-term planning employee, is retiring <br />th <br />on November 4and advised of the Administrative Assistant that will be joining the team. She <br />stated that the new Community Development Director/Deputy City Administrator will also be <br />joining the team the following week. <br /> <br />Councilmember Woestehoff provided additional details on the experience of the new Community <br />Development Director/Deputy City Administrator. <br /> <br />Commissioner VanScoy commented that there were many comments related to the lack of <br />communication. He asked if placing public announcements in the newspaper is standard practice. <br />Senior Planner McGuire Brigl confirmed that is the standard practice. She confirmed that the <br />notice in 2011 would have been published in the newspaper as required as well. <br />Commissioner Anderson referenced the small number of residents that read the public notice <br />portion of the paper and/or read the City newsletter. He commented that the City website is <br />difficult to navigate. He stated that perhaps there should be a banner with public announcements <br />on the website.
