RESOLUTION #05-XX-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH <br />THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR 2006 <br />PARTICIPATOIN IN THE SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES <br />PROGRAM <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department has in previous years <br />participated in the Minnesota Safe and Sober Project, receiving grant <br />money for the education and enforcement of DWI, Speed, and Seatbelt <br />laws. In order to do this, the City of Ramsey has entered into contractual <br />agreements with the State of Minnesota to receive grant money. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department would like to <br />participate in the 2006 Safe and Sober Campaign. A grant is being <br />prepared by the Anoka County Sheriff's Department of which the Ramsey <br />Police Department would like to partner with. If awarded the grant, all <br />the police departments involved would receive sufficient funding to cover <br />officer overtime expenses to participate in the required Safe and Sober <br />wave sessions. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is requiring a resolution from <br />Council authorizing the execution of an agreement with the Department <br />of Public Safety for the 2006 participating in project SAFE AND SOBER <br />COMMUNITIES to commence October 1, 2005 through September 30, <br />2006. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as <br />follows: <br /> <br />That the Ramsey Police Department enter into a grant <br />agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, <br />Office of Traffic Safety, for the project entitled SAFE & SOBER <br />COMMUNITIES during the period from October 1, 2005 through <br />September 30, 2006. <br /> <br />That the Ramsey Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute <br />such agreements and amendments as are necessary to <br />implement the project on behalf of the Ramsey Police <br />Department in cooperation with the Anoka County Sheriff's <br />Department. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br /> , and upon vote being taken <br />thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> <br />
