AD INISTRATION <br />Co o � � n rn u,. a n lk: a t k'.o n s <br />December 3, 2021 <br />Contact: Erik Thorson, Communications Director, 763-324-4612, or e-mail: <br />Erik.Thorsonco.anoka.mn.us <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />Board Approves Flat 2022 Property Tax Levy <br />The Anoka County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the 2022 final budget, <br />which includes a flat property tax levy, during the board's Dec. 3 meeting. <br />The 2022 budget reflects the priorities of the county to provide safe roads and eliminate <br />congestion; work with residents to improve their lives; protect and serve the community in a <br />manner that preserves public trust; attract and retain an engaged, skilled county staff; and provide <br />clear, accurate and effective information to residents and staff about county initiatives. <br />Prioritizing investment in the county's physical infrastructure facilities and roads is <br />a primary focus of next year's budget. <br />The 2022 capital budget is $123.3 million with $71 million being allocated to <br />transportation initiatives and $38 million going towards public safety building initiatives this is <br />directly related to beginning the construction of a new Emergency Communications Center, and <br />planning and design for the potential of a new parking ramp and jail. <br />A total of $39 million of the transportation budget is dedicated to improvements to the <br />Ramsey Gateway Project (Highway 10 interchanges at Ramsey Boulevard and Sunfish Lake <br />Boulevard). Anoka County's transportation improvement program leverages state, federal, and <br />transportation sales tax funds. No local levy dollars are allocated to road improvements. <br />"I'm incredibly proud of this board and the way we worked through the budget," said Scott <br />Schulte, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners. "We adopted a new budgeting process <br />this year, and it was embraced by our commissioners and county staff. We all worked together to <br />ensure county tax impact was as minimal as possible, and the result of that partnership is a flat <br />final levy.
