arry Steven Hickman, local business owner and entrepreneur, went to heaven on
December 23, 2021 at the age of 73, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Larry started his career as a salesman for Kinney Shoes, but quickly progressed into
management and corporate for the company, taking him all over the east coast, while
based out of New York City. He chose to leave the corporate world, move back to the
Midwest, and settle in Minnesota. From there, he and his wife, Frosty, started a small
farm market in 1979 known as Plants and Things. They grew the company into what is
now Plants and Things and Furniture and Things.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Frosty; sons: Steve (Dawn) Hickman and
Jeff (Annette) Hickman; grandchildren: Nicole (Sam) Pullar, Danielle (Zach) Brown,
Alexander (Gianna) Hickman, Elizabeth (Meagan) Pine, Courtney (Andrew) Carlson, and
Reece Hickman; great grandchildren: Wyatt, Graham, Dallas, Hunter, and Joelle.
Larry will be laid to rest at Lake Orono Cemetery during a private service. There will be a
celebration of his life at a future date. Larry was truly grateful for all of the love and
support from everyone throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to caerfoodself. org.
Published by Elk River Star News on Dec. 27, 2021.
10,
To offer your sympathy during this difficult time, you can now have memorial trees
planted in a National Forest in memory of your loved one.
t Plant Trees
