STATION CLEANUP

· Fircfighter Lecy's group has station cleanup this month.

SAFETY CONCERNS

· Windows should be dried after washing the trucks to avoid spotting.

· Station #1 entrance off of Alpine Drive (153ra Avenue) is difficult to see.

· Station #2 exit needs a light for better visibility.

· Winter driving practices need to be used. The new section of Alpine Drive (153rd Avenue)
will be slick this winter because it is new pavement.

· Chief Kapter questioned the firefighters on what their thoughts were of the Department's
responsibility for searching for drivers and/or passengers of abandoned vehicles. Consensus
was that for medical emergency, firefighters should search.

· To correct the problem with the Opticon at Highway #47 and County Road #5 the sensor will
be redirected first and if that does not correct the problem a remote sensor will be installed.

LADDER TRUCK PROCESS

The Department will look at the ladder trucks of other departments. They will look at steel
versus aluminum.

]'he number one reason other departments gave for having a ladder truck was the safety of
fircfighters while doing ventilation and then building height.

OFFICER POSITIONS 2002

· Officer positions opened for application in 2002 are Chief #2, Captain #12, Lieutenant #2 and
Training Officer. To be considered for a position a letter of application is needed.

ANOKA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION COUNCIL

· Funding is the key issue on how the DNR will be staffed and available to departments in
2002. The State has asked each of it's departments to decrease their budgets 5% to 10%.

Thc DNR is looking at three options:
· Staff extra at high alert times
· }tire morepeople
· Consider every larger incident as one command system

FIRE DEPARTMENT/DECEMBER 5, 2001
