Year to date there has been 260 calls, 62 were rescue of which 17 were extrications and 188
were fire of which 35 were cancelled alarms. There were 9 Mutual Aid calls.

· Average response time for rescue calls in October was 4 minutes, average attendance was 14
fircfighters and average time on the scene was 50 minutes.

· Average response time for fire calls in September was 8.5 minutes, average attendance was
15 t~refighters and average time on the scene was 40 minutes.

· A station note is that leaves blow in the garage when the door is open, so either sweep the
le~vcs out when done at the station or keep the doors closed.

STATION CLEANUP

· Fircfighter Litke's group has station cleanup this month.

2003 the Department will incorporate station cleanup with Major Maintenance Night.
l lowcvcr, if there is a low turn out of firefighters for Major Maintenance Night the
l)cpartment will have to go back to station cleanup.

SAFETY CONCERNS

· Winter driving practices need to be used. Streets with new pavement will be slick.

A fircfighter had a concern that the Department didn't make the scene safe enough at an
incident on Highway #10 and compared it to situation that took place in Esko. The
Dcparmaent believes it was safe enough and did not compare to the Esko situation, however,
fircfighters should continue to make the scene as safe as possible.

Turnout gear is needed at certain drills. Station #1 firefighters need to bring their gear for the
drills. It is unacceptable to borrow someone else's turnout gear. This is a safety matter, in
that the firefighter doesn't have to hunt for his/her gear in emergency situations.

· There has been a lot of extrication calls this year, make sure you know where the safety
glasses are located.

ATE

· 'l'he prototype should be here any day.

()FFICER POSITIONS FOR 2003

Positions open for 2003 are Chief#3, Captain #11, Lieutenant #1 and Training Officer.

FIRE DEPARTMENT/NOVEMBER 13, 2002
