Councilmember .... introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #22-005 <br />RESOLUTION TO ENCOURAGE BUT NOT MANDATE VACCINATION AGAINST <br />COVID-19 <br />WHEREAS, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) "immunization with a <br />safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine is a component of the United States strategy to reduce <br />COVID-19 related illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths and to help restore societal functioning" <br />; and <br />WHEREAS, the current level of hospitalizations related to, and independent of, COVID- <br />19 has provided critical issues for our healthcare facilities who are asking for our assistance; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey Council believes that the vaccination of individuals <br />should be a personal decision and supports the rights of individuals to choose whether or not they <br />wish to be vaccinated; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey will provide an equal level of service to everyone <br />working, living and visiting the City of Ramsey, regardless of vaccination status; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey is not in favor of medical mandates without reasonable <br />accommodations, but prefer residents take responsibility and consult healthcare professionals, <br />rather than politicians. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council supports and encourages residents to be vaccinated against <br />COVID-19 based on their healthcare provider's advice but shall not support any mandate <br />that does not contain reasonable accommodations. <br />Resolution #22-005 Page 1 of 2 <br />
