The EMPLOYEE may request an opportunity to hear an explanation of the <br />evidence against him/her and to present his/her explanation of issues and <br />circumstances related to the EMPLOYEE'S discharge to the EMPLOYER'S <br />representative. The EMPLOYEE is entitled to union representation at such <br />meeting, upon request. The right of such meeting shall expire at the end of the next <br />scheduled work day of the EMPLOYEE after the notice of discharge is delivered <br />to the EMPLOYEE unless the EMPLOYER and EMPLOYEE agree otherwise. <br />The discharge shall not become effective during the period when the meeting may <br />occur. However, the EMPLOYEE may be suspended without pay during the time <br />between the notice of discharge and the expiration of the pre -termination meeting. <br />Any further appeal of the discharge may be initiated by the UNION at Step 2 of the <br />GRIEVANCE procedure provided that the written appeal is signed by the <br />EMPLOYEE and the UNION. It is agreed that the availability of this appeal <br />procedure satisfies all due process requirements for a pre -termination hearing. , <br />19.6 EMPLOYEES may examine their own personnel file at reasonable times under the <br />direct supervision of a representative of the EMPLOYER. <br />19.7 The EMPLOYER shall have the right to revoke or reduce a discharge penalty at <br />any time. <br />ARTICLE 20 WAGES <br />20.1 EMPLOYEES shall be compensated in accordance with the wage schedules and <br />text attached hereto as Appendix A. Appendix A2 reflects a4we-an4-three-quafter <br />percent (2.75%) three percent (3%) cost of living adjustment (COLA) over- 2-_.0-J0 <br />2021 wages, effective January 1, 2021 2022. <br />Appendix A3 reflects a three percent (3%) COLA over 2022 wages. effective. - <br />January 1, 2023 as well as a two and a half percent (2.5%) market rate adjustment <br />for the following Public Works Maintenance Worker positions: Building, Parks. <br />Streets. and Utilities Maintenance Workers and Public Works Lead Workers. <br />Appendix A4 reflects a three percent (3%) COLA over 2023 wages. effective <br />January 1. 2024 as well as a as a two and a half percent (2.5%) market rate <br />adjustment for the following Public Works Maintenance Worker positions: <br />Building. Parks. Streets, and Utilities Maintenance Workers and Public Works <br />Lead Workers. <br />20.2 Public Works Maintenance Workers or Building Inspectors expressly assigned in <br />writing by the supervisor or department director to perform the duties of an interim <br />lead worker due to the absence of a supervisor shall receive an interim lead worker <br />differential of one dollar ($1.00) per hour. Interim Lead pay will be paid for all <br />hours assigned and worked in the interim lead worker capacity. Interim lead <br />workers will not be assigned for project -based work.
