FIRE BOARD MEETING <br /> <br />The piece of land most suited for the new station is at the comer of 161st Avenue and <br />Armstrong Boulevard. There will be a Fire Board meeting once the appraisals are in for the <br />properties. The property owner doesn't want to sell, so condemnation proceedings will have <br />to begin. The Department would like to brake ground this spring. <br /> <br />· Track specs will be reviewed for approval so specs can be put out for bid. <br /> <br />POPULAR WEEKEND COVERAGE <br /> <br />· Most fire fighters will be in town for the Thanksgiving weekend. <br /> <br />STORM TEAM REVIEW <br /> <br />When storms could inhibit response time the Department will have overnight coverage at the <br />station using Company A & B. Fire fighters will be paid for the time spent at the Fire <br />Station. <br /> <br />Chief Kapler reviewed the sexual harassment policy. This is done on a yearly basis. <br /> <br />SENIOR HOUSING UPDATE <br /> <br />· Sanitary sewer has been hooked up to the property. <br /> <br />The old restaurant building is not suitable for a live bum. Once the City has obtained right of <br />access the house will be evaluated for a live bum. <br /> <br />ANOKA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION COUNCIL <br /> <br />· ChiefKapler thanked Greg, John, and Brenda for their help at the meeting. <br /> <br />· There will be a multiple cities disaster drill in April 1999. The Ramsey, Anoka, and Oak <br /> Grove Fire Departments will play an integral part in the drill. <br /> <br />· In some cities a pay issue has risen for fire fighters that are also on city staff. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey's policy is that fire fighters on staff would get paid normal pay rate <br />during business hours, calls after hours, the fire fighter pay rate is used, even if the call is <br />begun during business hours. <br /> <br />RAMSEY FIRE DEPARTMENT/NOVEMBER 1998 <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
