1. l.;conomic Development Authority regular meeting minutes dated May 24, 2005. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chairperson Steffen, Members Kiefer, LeTourneau, and <br />Strommcn. Voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson Riley, Members Elvig and Gromberg. <br /> <br />EI)A BIJSINESS <br /> <br />(iasc #1: 2005 Business of the Year <br /> <br />l,;conom ic Devclopment/TIF Specialist Sullivan reviewed that each year at the Ramsey Business <br />Appreciation Day, the City presents a business with the Business of the Year award. He <br />reviewed thc following criteria used by the EDA when considering nominees: <br /> <br />1. Bccn involved in all aspects of the community. <br />2. l'rovided for the maintenance or expansion of the commercial/industrial tax base of the <br /> community through the development of new business ventures or the retention or <br /> expansion of existing business. <br /> 3. t,;xpandcd or retained the employment base of the community. <br /> 4. Been a positive influence to the business community. <br /> <br />t';conom ic l)evelopment/TIF Specialist Sullivan reviewed the list of businesses previously <br />chosen as Business of the Year. He indicated Member Gromberg had suggested some of these <br />businesses be considered again for future awards. He reviewed the following list of suggested <br />busincsscs for the 2005 Business of the Year Award: <br /> <br />S un fish Commons Partnership <br />Anderson-l)ahlen <br />RJ M/General Paper Products <br />Basalt Properties <br />Zero Zone Rcfl'igeration <br /> <br />[!conomic I)evelopment/TIF Specialist advised staff recommends that the award go to <br />RJM/Gcncral Paper Products. This company does manufacturing, distribution and design work. <br />~l'tac b usi ness owner is truly an ambassador for the City of Ramsey and staff feels that this <br />business has met the general criteria established for this award. <br /> <br />Motion by Vice Chairperson Steffen, seconded by Member LeTourneau, to award RJM/General <br />Paper Products as the 2005 Business of the Year. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Member Kiefer stated RJM/General Paper Products is deserving of the <br />award. I lc suggested Bank of the West be considered for the award in the future. He noted this <br />busi ness consistently donates to Happy Days and is involved in several things in the community.' <br />lie requested information regarding the accomplishments of Sunfish Commons Partnership. <br />Economic Dcvelopment/TIF Specialist Sullivan replied Sunfish Commons is a great <br />redevelopment project.
