She added that there is a trail system in the <br />area thai will be fully connected before winter. <br /> <br />(',ommissioncr Johnson stated that the concerns the neighbors have about parks is <br />understandable, but the Park Commission may have suggestions. He indicated they are seeing a <br />lot ol"dcvelopment here, and there is a potential for getting more land for parks. He stated if the <br />neighbors direct the Park Commission's attention to the issue, they may be able to provide a park <br />a little closer than a mile away. <br /> <br />Mr. l"rics stated that it just seems like the focus is on development and nothing else. He <br />indicated the City encourages people to come in, but does not focus on community areas to <br />galhcr. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt stated that he moved into the city in 1995, and has had a lot of developments in <br />his backyard. He indicated that given the developments they have looked at tonight, they will <br />final ly have some parks and connections to parks that the city has never had before. <br /> <br />Mr. Fries stated hc understands that, but it seems like they are all larger regional parks, and not <br />smaller neighborhood parks. He indicated that the people who live there are pretty interested in <br />this, and he does not think it is over. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt advised him that he could approach the City Council and the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />(~ommissioncr Van Scoy asked if the parking spaces in the park area are dedicated to the park. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik indicated they are not dedicated, noting that <br />thc green areas are not public parks; just open space for the development. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Chairperson Nixt to close the public hearing at <br />10:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Johnson, Levine, Shepherd, and <br />Van Scoy. Voting No: None.
