CC Regular Session 5.3.
Meeting Date: 01/25/2022
By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative
Services
Information
Title
Authorization to Promote City Employees
Purpose/Background:
The purpose of this case is for the Council to consider promoting two Community Development Planning Division
employees.
As discussed at the January 11, 2022 work session, there have been some staffing changes in the Community
Development Department. Staff proposed a restructure in the Department in an effort to retain and develop the
City's planning staff and provide continuity in public service. During the work session, it was discussed that the City
would promote a long term City Planner to Senior Planner and to promote two other planning staff to City Planners.
Since that time, the Code Enforcement Officer, Ms. Bria Raines, submitted a letter to the City stating her last day
with the City of Ramsey will be January 28, 2022. Given this development, staff is reviewing options as to how to
proceed with this specific vacancy. However, the other position, the Planning Technician, held by Mr. Brian
McCann, is recommended for promotion to City Planner.
Funding Source:
The funding required for this action is included in the 2022 approved budget and will come from the savings
incurred while the Planning Manager position is vacant (currently in the recruitment process) and the savings
incurred while the Code Enforcement Officer is vacant (title to be determined following staff analysis of department
needs).
Recommendation:
To promote two City employees, effective as of January 29, 2022, as follows:
1) Promote Chris Anderson to Senior Planner at step 3 of the 2022 wage scale which is $43.60 per hour; and
2) Promote Brian McCann to City Planner at step 2 of the 2022 wage scale which is $38.83 per hour.
Action:
Motion to promote two City employees, effective as of January 29, 2022, as follows:
1) Promote Chris Anderson to Senior Planner at step 3 of the 2022 wage scale which is $43.60 per hour; and
2) Promote Brian McCann to City Planner at step 2 of the 2022 wage scale which is $38.83 per hour.
No file(s) attached.
Attachments
Form Review
Inbox Reviewed By Date
Brian Hagen Brian Hagen 01/20/2022 09:40 AM
Kurt Ulrich Kurt Ulrich 01/20/2022 10:09 AM
