CC Regular Session 5.9. <br />Meeting Date: 01 / 11 /2022 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative <br />Services <br />Information <br />Title <br />Authorization to Hire a Streets Maintenance Worker to Fill a Current Vacancy <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker to fill a current <br />vacancy. <br />Staff conducted a recruitment and interview process to fill the vacancy. Staff selected Mr. David Herrick as the top <br />candidate. Subsequently, Mr. Herrick underwent and passed the City's pre -employment testing process, including a <br />criminal background check, professional reference check, driving record check and employment verifications; as <br />well as a physical exam and drug screen. The City extended a job offer which is contingent upon City Council <br />approval. Staff is recommending the top candidate, Mr. Herrick be hired as a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker. <br />Mr. Herrick will be subject to a 6-month probationary period and all Personnel Policies and/or employment <br />contracts will apply. <br />Notification: <br />The Street Maintenance Worker position is responsible for constructing and maintaining streets, parking lots and <br />related property; performing snow related activities; performing general maintenance activities; performing general <br />labor; performing vehicle and motorized equipment maintenance; performing and assisting with landscape, grounds <br />care, and forestry/naturalist activities; providing assistance with preparation of community events; performing <br />mechanical building maintenance and repair; as well as a wide range of other tasks as required. <br />In addition, the Streets Maintenance Worker is required be a member of the Public Works on -call team and work a <br />rotating on -call schedule 8 weeks per year. This requires employees to be available to respond during evenings, <br />weekends and holidays. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding required for this position has already been included in the 2022 budget. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends hiring Mr. David Herrick as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker, effective on <br />or near January 31, 2022, at $24.389 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2022 wage scale. <br />Action: <br />Motion to to hire Mr. David Herrick as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker, effective on or near <br />January 31, 2022, at $24.389 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2022 wage scale. <br />Attachments <br />No file(s) attached. <br />
