Maa Jo Warner
Fnmmm Sent: Monday, January 31, 2022 2:11 PM
To: Mary ]oWarner
Subject: RABBIT PARK
Thank you for this welcomed opportunity to provide input regarding the upcoming changes atRabbit Park.
We are long term residents that have resided across from Rabbit Park fo[30+years, before Rabbit Park was
established, After the removal of the aged equipment, vvewould like to see as minimal of a change or
reinvestment in the park or play equipment as possible.
Over the years, Rabbit Park has been quite anuisance, often used for reasons other than intended. hhas been
a place for motorized vehicles, i.e. 4VVhBelers, SOovvnnobil83 dirt bikes, /U\/s etc., sometimes traveling at high
speeds to create noise, annoyance and a safety issue tnanotherwise quite area. When the park virtually
became a race track, several times a week, we raised concerns and were advised that a "no motor vehicles"
sign would beerected. If the offenses continued, we could notify the polic department if we desired. We do
not feel that it is our responsibility to monitor the park. Although the racing subsided after the sign was put on
place, motorized vehicles still do enter the park past the sign'
Rabbit Park has also been ahangout, attimes inthe middle ofthe night, once again using the Park and parking
area for mischief and noise creation i.e. fireworks and car stereos, reasons other than the parks intended use.
The slide hill was often used asajumping ramp for motorized vehicles, the slide often used asanobject to
bang on. On New Year's Eve, a couple ofyears ago, the wood frame ofthe slide was set ablaze at midnight
which resulted in an Emergency response from the police and fire departments. The culprits fled the park ina
vehicle parked nearby.
Since the park was established 30+ years ago, it has seldom been used as intended. \A/ewould prefer tnsee
Rabbit Park disappear after the aged equipment is removed. However, as that is not likely, we would like as
little reinvestment as possible.
\A/Bsincerely appreciate this opportunity hVvoice input oDasubject that VV2have asolid interest in.
Thank you.
