(;o,mcilmember Olson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #05-08-274 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />M ! N NESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR 2006 <br />PARTICII~ATION IN THE SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES PROGRAM <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department has in previous years participated in <br />ibc Minncsota Safe and Sober Project, receiving grant money for the education and <br />cntbrccmcnt of DWI, Speed, and Seatbelt laws. In order to do this, the City of Ramsey <br />has entered into contractual agreements with the State of Minnesota to receive grant <br />money; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department would like to participate in the 2006 <br />Salk and Sober Campaign. A grant is being prepared by the Anoka County Sheriff's <br />l)cpartmcnt of which the Ramsey Police Department would like to partner with. If <br />awarded the grant, all the police departments involved would receive sufficient funding <br />lo cover officer overtime expenses to participate in the required Safe and Sober wave <br />sessions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is requiring a resolution from Council <br />authorizing the execution of an agreement with the Department of Public Safety for the <br />2006 participating in project SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES to commence <br />()ctobcr 1,2005 through September 30, 2006. <br /> <br />NOW TltEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />That the Ramsey Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for the <br />project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period from <br />October 1,2005 through September 30, 2006. <br /> <br />That the Ramsey Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute such <br />agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on <br />behalf of the Ramsey Police Department in cooperation with the Anoka <br />County Sheriff's Department. <br /> <br />Thc motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Cotmcihncmber Cook, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Olson <br />Councilmember Cook <br /> <br />Resolution #05-08-274 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
