Meeting Date: 12/14/2021 Submitted For: Jeff Katers,Police By: Tim Frankfurth, Police Information Title Approve Extending Animal Impound Services Contract with North Metro Animal Care and Control Purpose/Background: The purpose of this case is to authorize the extension of the Animal Impound Services Contract with North Metro Animal Care and Control. The City of Ramsey had contracted with the City of Anoka for animal containment services until 2019. This is when the City of Anoka informed us the animal impound facility would be closing so the property could be redeveloped. In September 2019, the City of Ramsey began utilizing North Metro Animal Care and Control (NMACC) of Andover for their services. The Ramsey Police Department is responsible for animal control in the City of Ramsey and requests approval of the contract so this service can continue. The attached contract would continue services through 2022. There have been some price changes to the contract which are covered in the addendum. The contract and addendum are attached for review. Observations/Alternatives: The City is satisfied with the service and cost proposed by this provider. As an alternative, the Council could reject this proposal and seek other vendors. This alternative is not recommended at this time. Funding Source: The budgeted amount for animal containment services for the 2022 budget is $2000. This is a reduction from the budgeted amount of$4000 in 2021. The actual annual expense will vary based upon the number of impounded animals. Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of the attached contract with North Metro Animal Care and Control to allow them to continue providing services for the City of Ramsey. Action: Motion to approve the attached contract with North Metro Animal Care and Control to provide animal and impound services for the City of Ramsey.
