CC Regular Session 7. 1. <br /> Meeting Date: 12/14/2021 <br /> Submitted For: Sean Sullivan, Community Development <br /> By: Wendy Schlueter, Community Development <br /> Information <br /> Title: <br /> Adopt Ordinance#21-21 Amending City Code Article XVI—Tobacco, Sections 26-749 to 26-789 <br /> Purpose/Background: <br /> The purpose of this case is to consider adoption of Ordinance#21-21 which revises City Code,Article XVI— <br /> Tobacco, Sections 26-749 to 26-789 to reflect the MN Tobacco 21 law that went into effect in August 2020, <br /> changing the legal age of tobacco sales from 18 to 21 years (Minn. Stats. § 609.685), as well as incorporate <br /> electronic delivery tobacco devices within the City of Ramsey,Anoka County,Minnesota. <br /> Notification: <br /> The Public Hearing notice for Ordinance#21-09 was published on November 12, 2021. The Public Hearing and <br /> first reading of the ordinance occurred on November 23, 2021 at the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting. <br /> Time Frame/Observations/Alternatives: <br /> The existing City Code Article XVI—Tobacco, Sections 26-749 to 26-789 is outdated and being updated to reflect <br /> current Minnesota statute and incorporate electronic delivery tobacco devices. <br /> Funding Source: <br /> This case is being handled as part of normal Staff duties. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> City Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the Ordinance#21-21. <br /> Outcome/Action: <br /> Motion to waive the City Charter requirement to read the ordinance aloud and adopt Ordinance#21-21 Amending <br /> City Code Article XVI—Tobacco, Sections 26-749 to 26-789. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Councilmember Musgrove <br /> Councilmember Specht <br /> Councilmember Woestehoff <br /> Councilmember Heineman <br /> Councilmember Howell <br /> Councilmember Riley <br /> Mayor Kuzma <br /> Attachments <br /> Draft Ordinance#21-21 <br /> City Council Nov 23 2021 Minutes <br />
