that if he is allowed to get a centerline staked before final plat, we could walk it and make <br />adjustments. We have agreed that prior to any cutting, we will stake center lines and look at if <br />we clear 50', 60' or 80', depending on existing grade and after that, look at side yard trees. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated "okay, but let's stay with the scope of grading needs". <br /> <br />Mr. Black stated that they need to clear underbrush. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos summarized what damages could be done by clearing and that he didn't think they <br />should be clearing the underbrush. There are little trees thriving in there too. <br /> <br />Mr. Black stated that his company is doing a land development - it is their land and they are <br />putting money on the line to sell real estate. He felt they should be able to determine what trees <br />might need to be cut. He added that they are trying to preserve as many tress as they can. He <br />wants to save significant trees but there will be some trees cut down and they will have to take <br />out the underbrush to begin development. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated he was offering to work with the developer, for free, but if he doesn't want that, <br />he can hire a "tree guy". <br /> <br />Mr. Black responded that he does not need to hire a "tree guy", he can do this himself. <br /> <br />Chairperson Cook stated that other developers are willing to work with the Commission on <br />preserving trees. <br /> <br />Mr. Black reiterated that he is talking about clearing underbrush. He added he would like to <br />work with Mark but that he will not skip around every little tree. He stated he wanted to get in <br />and get out and onto the next project. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ostrum told Mr. Black that Mark Boos has said he wants to work with the <br />developer and that he (Boos) is looking at what's best for the City and what's best for the <br />development. He added that he (Ostrum) does not like any developer telling the Commission <br />what they (the developer) are going to do. <br /> <br />The tree preservation plan was summarized again. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Commission and the Developer was that the plans would be a two-step process <br />and that Mr. Black would work with staff on tree preservation. <br /> <br />Case #3: Affirm Trail Fees for Construction of the Sunwood Drive Trail Extension <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos reported to the Commission that trail fees were recommended by <br />staff to fund an extension of the trail from the Water Tower #2 project, westerly along Sunwood <br />Drive to C.R. #56. This would be done as part of the tower site restoration.
