Good afternoon,
The City of Ramsey would like to formally invite you to attend City Administrator Kurt Ulrich's
retirement reception on Thursday, April 28, from 2:00 — 5:00 pm in the Alexander Ramsey Room at
Ramsey City Hall, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW. Please join us for cake and coffee. There will be an
opportunity for speeches and storytelling as well.
Kurt is retiring after 42 years of public service - 15 of which were spent as Ramsey's City Administrator.
Prior to his work in Ramsey, he worked for the City of Mounds View as its City Administrator. Before
that, Kurt worked in state government for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources during the
Ventura administration. Prior to that, he worked for the City of Champlin — his hometown - first as
Community Development Director and then as City Administrator. Early on in his career, he also served
as a City Planner for the City of Oakdale and a Planning Assistant for the City of Eagan.
In his time at Ramsey, Kurt helped to fund and facilitate the construction of several community assets
including the North Star Rail Station, the Elmcrest Park Community Building, the Draw Park and
Amphitheater, Fire Station #2 and the new Public Works Facility. He also helped to rescue 'downtown'
Ramsey from financial failure due to a successful multi -use suburban development that has resulted in
millions of dollars in residential and commercial development, secured funding for the Armstrong
overpass on US Highway 10 and secured additional funding for upgrades to Highway 10 known as the
Ramsey Gateway. He also helped to bring the Veteran's Administration Community Based Outpatient
Clinic to the Ramsey community and much, much more. Along the way, he also earned his Doctorate in
Public Administration from Hamline University.
Mr. Ulrich plans to spend time with his wife Cindi, who also recently retired, and his two daughters,
Angela and Megan, and their families. Kurt has shared that he plans to pass along his knowledge of
public administration by teaching at Hamline University. He is looking forward to being a first-time
grandparent in August and spending time in the great outdoors.
Thank you,
((lag 7uv 4
rite, Txd
COMMIZIk2ItiOrli & Events
a S iattiooti Drive NW
Ni^I (Direct)
(Fax)
