Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION#22-090 AUTHORIZING THE RENOVATION OF RABBIT PARK AND <br /> PELTZER PARK PLAYGROUNDS <br /> WHEREAS, Ramsey City Council and the Park and Recreation Commission recognizes <br /> the importance of Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation to the quality of life for Ramsey <br /> residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, Neighborhood playgrounds are essential areas for play, creative and <br /> cognitive expression, as well as the positive physical development of children; and <br /> WHEREAS, renovation and reinvestment in existing parks represents a commitment and <br /> service to residents throughout the City, and supports favorable property values and sustaining <br /> neighborhoods; and <br /> WHEREAS, the adopted Playground Replacement Policy sets into motion the <br /> programmatic replacement of the City's playgrounds and Rabbit and Peltzer Parks are the in <br /> greatest need for replacement; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Park and Recreation Commission invited approximately 220 neighboring <br /> families of the parks to provide their input on the park and playground renovations. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> 1) That, the Park and Recreation Commission listened to all public comment on the <br /> playground projects, and crafted a budget and work plan for two park renovations that <br /> included the preponderance of resident requests and aligns with the Capital Improvement <br /> Plan for a recommendation to City Council; and <br /> 2) That,pursuant to MN State Statute Chapter 349, Lawful Gambling Fund monies may only <br /> be used for expenditures that benefit youth in the community, and that accordingly, this <br /> Resolution appropriates $100,700 for the playground renovations at Rabbit and Peltzer <br /> Parks for 2022. <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br /> , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> and the following voted against the same: <br /> and the following abstained: <br />
