The purpose of redistricting is to ensure the residents of each
commissioner district are equally represented.
The board considered several options for new commissioner districts and held a workshop
April 19 to review and consider public comments. After discussion at the special meeting about
the merits of the maps, the board ultimately approved option C, which in addition to defining new
boundaries also renumbers some districts.
All commissioners are up for reelection in 2022 — three commissioner districts have
expiring terms and the remaining four are required to run because the total population shift for the
district was greater than five percent of the average district size.
To comply with staggered term requirements, districts 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be 4-year terms.
Districts 5, 6 and 7 will be 2-year terms.
The early candidate filing period (for offices with a possible primary election) will take
place May 17 to May 31, 2022. Candidates will file for office at that time based on the newly
established district lines.
-more-
Raps p 000000 v,„0 , 010 010 ovat0v000000, ts 000,00 a 0 0.000,00 Raps po no 0 b 000000
C000 c0vern rale 000 t C1E00 te r A. 2.1 0 0 3 '11 Ave 1„„le , ,00031„,1 te 7 0 0 A.
