CC Work Session 2. 1. Meeting Date: 09/08/2020 Information Title: Discussion Regarding Union Contract Negotiations for AFSCME, LELS-Patrol,LELS-Sergeants & LELS-Captains (Discussion Closed to the Public) Please Note: This case was moved from Case 2.4 to Case 2.1 Purpose/Background: The purpose of this discussion is to provide the City Council with an update on the status of negotiations and to receive feedback for staff to negotiate with each group. (Note,this agenda item was scheduled for the last work session,but has been rescheduled to this evening due to previous time constraints.) Staff will also provide the City Council with information on the process of negotiating union contracts. Per Minnesota Statutes 13D.03,which states: "The governing body of a public employer may by a majority vote in a public meeting decide to hold a closed meeting to consider strategy for labor negotiations, including negotiation strategies or developments or discussion and review of labor negotiation proposals, conducted pursuant to sections 179A.01 to 179A.25" staff is requesting that the City Council go into closed session to discuss the City's labor negotiations strategy for its four union contracts. All four contracts are set to expire on December 31, 2020. At the time of the work session, City staff will have met with all four groups. Timeframe: Up to 30 minutes. Funding Source: Not applicable at this time.
