CASE #5 CO~SIDER THE D/[PROVE3,'IENT OF 160TM LA2qE TO Tlff_E TIL4.PPERS RIDGE SUBDIVISION By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer Background: Recently the City acquired a full 66 feet of rig. hr of way over the westernmost 416 feet of Section 15 to provide access to the Trappers P,5.dge subdivision. The purpose-of this right of way acquisition was twofold, ~rst, to provide access to the new Trappers Ridge subdivision, and second, to preserve a transportation corridor for future connection to adjacent public roadways when the area more fully develops. At the present time, the acquired fight of way provides access to the single residence of the Trappers Ridge subdivision. 5talThas received requests from the property owner from whom this r/~-tt of way has been obtained to improve the rig.hr of way with a City street. The cost of constructing a street to City standard would be a minimum of $26,000. This cost will be higher if drainage requires more than a simple roadside ditch. The chief benefit of improving d-tis segment of roadway at this time would be to provide more convenient road access to the adjacent property owners since it only serves direct access to one property. Recommendation: S taft recommends that the improvement of this street be considered as an improvement that would be undertaken under Chapter 4 of City Code and State Statues 429 with the full cost of the improvements assessed to the benefiting property owners.
